 Long term effect on child: May cause slower growth (height and weight) in children

 Common side effects: Nervousness, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, dizziness, upset stomach, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, diarrhea, headache, couth, runny nose, and other cold symptoms. Depression, chronic abuse can lead to tolerance and psychic dependency with varying degrees of abnormal behavior. Frank psychotic episodes can occur. Patients with agitation may react adversely.

 CBC and platelet count (lab work) are advised.

 Cardiac side effects: Necrotizing vasculitis, thrombocytopenia purpura, blood pressure and pulse changes, rapid heart beat, cardiac arrhythmia, angina.

 

All forms taken by mouth.   Usually taken 2-3 times a day.   Extended release tablets taken once a day in the morning.

Long term effect on child: Used for long periods of time in children may cause unwanted effects on behavior and growth. May cause slower growth (height and weight) in children

 Common side effects: Nervousness, restlessness, difficulty falling or staying asleep, mood swings, agitation, dizziness, tiredness, weakness, shaking hands that you cannot control, headache, changes in sex drive or ability, dry mouth, stomach pain, upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, bad taste in mouth. Amphetamine with high potential for abuse, controlled substance, may lead to drug dependence, may exacerbate behavior disturbances and thought disorders, and psychotic episodes.

Cardiac side effects: palpitations, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, and cardiomyopathy with chronic use of amphetamines.

 

Tablet usually taken 2-3 times daily.

Children and teenagers who take (mood elevators) such as Wellbutrin are more likely to think about harming or killing themselves. The safety and effectiveness in children under 18 years old have not been established. Although they are more sensitive to antidepressant drugs, older people have responded no differently to Wellbutrin than younger people

Common side effects: Drowsiness, restlessness, excitement, anxiety, dry mouth, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, dizziness, headache, upset stomach, vomiting, tremor, weight loss, constipation, excessive sweating, agitation, anxiety, restlessness, delusions, hallucinations, psychotic episodes, paranoia, mania, seizures, hostility, depression, depersonalization, mood instability, thought disorder, suicidal ideation. Weight gain and weight loss.

May take 4 weeks or longer to feel the full benefit

 Cardiac side effects: edema, chest pain, EKG abnormalities, shortness of breath, heart attack.

 

Either a sustained-release or extended-release tablet taken by mouth.

Wellbutrin: 3 equal doses spaced evenly throughout the day. At least 6 hours between doses.

Cardiac side-effects: congestive heart failure, cerebrovascular accident (stroke), EKG abnormalities, arrhythmias, chest pain, syncope, high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat and palpitations.

 

The usual starting dose is 0.1 milligram, twice a day (usually in the morning and at bedtime).

The most common effective dosages range from 0.2 milligram to 0.6 milligram per day divided into smaller doses. The maximum effective dose is 2.4 milligrams per day; however, this dose is not usually prescribed.

Oral medication starts with 25 mg 2 to 4 times daily. Increases by 25 mg daily in intervals of one week.
Maintenance is 100 to 200 mg in 24 hours.
Maximum limit of dosage is 300 mg in 24 hours.

The usual starting dose is 75 milligrams a day. The doctor may increase this to 150 milligrams a day. The maximum daily dose is 200 milligrams.

 

Tofranil is not to be used in children to treat any condition but bedwetting, and its use will be limited to short-term therapy. Safety and effectiveness in children under the age of 6 have not been established. Total daily dosages for children should not exceed 2.5 milligrams for each 2.2 pounds of the child's weight.

Anger/hostility, blurred vision, bone aches/pain, confusion, constipation, decreased concentration, depression, diarrhea, fast, fluttery heartbeat, incoordination, muscle pain/aches, numbness, pain or weakness in hands or feet, rapid heartbeat, rash, restlessness, stomach and abdominal upset, sweating/clamminess, tingling or pins and needles, tremor, urinary incontinence, vomiting, weakness. 

 

The recommended starting dose is a total of 15 milligrams per day divided into smaller doses, usually 5 milligrams 3 times a day. Every 2 to 3 days, your doctor may increase the dosage 5 milligrams per day as needed. The daily dose should not exceed 60 milligrams.

The safety and effectiveness of Buspar have not been established in children less than 18 years of age.

Common side effects: Insomnia, Depression, dizziness, drowsiness, hallucinations, headache, hepatitis and other liver problems, increased irritability, involuntary, fragmented movements of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, arms, and legs, loss of appetite, mild depression, nausea, seizures, skin rash, stomachache, suppressed growth, uncontrolled vocal outbursts (such as grunts, shouts, and obscene language), weight loss, yellowing of skin or eyes.

 

The recommended beginning dose is 37.5 milligrams daily. Dosages may be gradually increased if needed. Most children take doses ranging from 56.25 to 75 milligrams a day. The maximum recommended daily dose of Cylert is 112.5 milligrams.
