Neurofeedback for Autistic Spectrum Disorder Recently Published in the Journal of Neurotherapy Who will be conducting this study?
Ø Gary Schummer, Ph.D., a licensed Psychologist (PSY11860) and clinical Director of the ADD Treatment Centers, Torrance, will be the Principle Investigator (PI) and will
be making all protocol
decisions Ø

office Ø Karin Zimmermann, Ph.D., a licensed Psychologist (PSY13071) will be administering the diagnostic and Neuropsychological testing Ø Jack Johnstone, Ph.D., Associate Researcher, Department of Psychology, U.C.L.A. and C.E.O. of Q-Metrx, Inc. and Valley Sleep Center will process and analyze all QEEG (Brainmapping) data Ø The QuietMind Foundation, Inc, as an Institutional Review Board will provide ethical and critical oversight to the study

About Participating In The Study: Ø
This study is sponsored by A.D.D. Treatment Centers and
Q-Metrx, Inc. Ø
Enrollment is underway and
initial interviews
begin on or
before March 1, 2008 Ø 44 participants will be randomly assigned to ether; 1) a “first treatment” group, or
2) a delayed
treatment
or
“wait-list" control group Ø The "first treatment” group begins therapy soon after enrollment and
completion of testing Ø The “wait-list” group will be tested along with the "first treatment” group but will wait 10 after weeks, test again, and then begin therapy Ø
Both groups will be tested a
final time after completing the therapy Ø 20 visits of Neurofeedback therapy will be provided in our offices twice a week for ten weeks Ø After enrollment a diagnostic interview will be conducted by one of our site coordinators. The child and at least one parent or guardian must be present Ø
Status meetings with
parent(s)
and site coordinator Ø There can be no breaks or vacations during the 10 weeks of Therapy Ø Privacy will be protected at all times Ø
A
positive change is expected but can not be guaranteed Ø The paper is expected to be published in an Autism journal
