In addition to psychological and behavioral interventions, coaching and education therapy can inspire an individual to build a happier life and work to their full potential. These contributory services provide the post-Neurofeedback patient with a framework from which he or she can substitute positive patterns over negative patterns and thereby assist themselves in attaining their goals. Through many years of experience we have learned that these services are a necessary part of the remediation of A.D.D. Coaching is a relatively new specialty area through which a post- Neurofeedback patient can learn new ways of dealing with old A.D.D. habit patterns that are damaging their life. Procrastination, poor time-management, and impulsive decision-making are just some of the negative habits that are targeted in a successful coaching program. Additionally, academic ability and social skills can be improved via coaching. These improvements often yield improved self-confidence based on real competence and real success. Educational Therapy focuses on building skills necessary for success in the academic area. These specialists study the traits of those who perform well scholastically in terms of effective learning techniques as well as test-taking strategies to attain high grades. The educational therapist can assist with both short and long-term academic planning as well as assessment of areas of competency, present levels of achievement, and innate intelligence (IQ). They identify areas of weakness in the post-Neurofeedback patient and "fill in the gaps" left over from having lived with A.D.D. Psychotherapy deals with the emotional overlay of A.D.D. and/or co-morbidity issues. The post-Neurofeedback patient often has problems of low self-esteem, feelings of defeat, issues of anxiety or depression, and poor social skills. The newly discovered attention abilities may lie dormant if issues of fear or habit prevail. The psychotherapist facilitates emotional growth by providing a forum to explore these old feelings and assist in re-programming the cognitive and emotional brain. The goal of psychotherapy is to promote happiness and success by evolving new patterns of interacting with the inner and outer world of the individual. The positive effect of Neurofeedback Therapy is maximized when coaches or therapists are added at some point during the training. We are connected with professionals in the community who offer these and other specialties and will refer you for their services at the proper time.
